To mark the start of artist Talles Lopes’ representation by Cerrado Gallery, Barranco Ateliê and Cerrado held an Open Studio event showcasing the artist’s creative processes and recent works to the artistic community of Anápolis. The event featured remarks and contributions from curator Paulo Henrique Silva, artist Valdson Ramos, and gallery owner Lúcio Albuquerque.
Talles Lopes (Anápolis, 1997) is an artist and architect who graduated from the State University of Goiás (UEG). Drawing on archives, atlases, architectural projects, and exhibition catalogs, the artist has been investigating the built landscape on the periphery of modern thought in Brazil, as well as the suspected connections between the imaginary of modernity and colonial legacies.
The artist has participated in exhibitions such as the 12th São Paulo International Architecture Biennial (2019), the exhibition “Histórias Brasileiras” (2022) at MASP – Museu de Arte de São Paulo, and the exhibition “Concretos” (2022) at TEA – Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (Spain), and was also awarded the EDP Prize in the Arts (2020), held at the Tomie Ohtake Institute. He was an artist-in-residence at the Delfina Foundation in London (2022), at the URRA Project in Buenos Aires (2023), and most recently at the IPA – Institute for Public Architecture in New York (2023).
