Anápolis - GO.
The Tempera Workshop with Selma Parreira was designed for artists working in various media or participants with prior painting experience; the workshop offered three days of hands-on experience with egg tempera painting in the context of contemporary art. Focusing on the artistic community of Anápolis and the surrounding region, the workshop aims to foster artist-to-artist exchange within the local context.
Divided into three parts, the workshop began with the Conversa Aberta (Open Conversation), a talk with Selma Parreira (January 16), an open discussion with the audience addressing the artist’s career. The conversation focused on her painting practice using tempera, while also touching on her other works in photography, installation, performance, and other media. The second day of the workshop (January 17) was dedicated to an introduction to materials, types of pigments, and the preparation of tempera paint. Finally, the workshop concluded with a day (January 18) set aside for experimentation and painting practice in the studio under the guidance of Selma Parreira, as well as a screening of the film “Azul Anil - Memórias do Rio Vermelho” directed by the artist.
These activities are part of the Painting Atelier, an initiative by Barranco Ateliê to explore painting practices and experimentation within the context of contemporary art in Goiás. This project is supported by the Goyazes Program of the Government of Goiás, through the State Secretariat of Culture.
